Back in the Saddle:  A New Chapter

Greetings my friends.  During my absence and while I was going through some heavy life altering challenges, there were periods where I certainly didn’t put my best self forward.  There were times where I was in great physical pain from 3 joint replacement surgeries, extensive dental restoration, major hair loss and ongoing white knuckle gripping physio terrorism.

And what was happening besides these multiple challenges was after a purpose driven and successful 65 lb. weight release my body changed satisfactorily, but not so much with my face + 5 years of aging that doubled the trouble.

There were times when I thought “why bother—who really cares—perhaps it doesn’t matter.” Hmm…..if I didn’t know better and wasn’t well practiced in overcoming, I would have thrown in the towel, filled my storage closet with gin and tonic settled into a life of “not giving a damn” and created a permanent dent in a recliner somewhere.

But, you know what?  That’s not me and I RE-discovered that it DOES matter! The thing is I’d hit a new life passage.  What was left of my hair was now the colour of my restored teeth, and thanks to a good surgeon and physio-terrorist, I was in much better shape physically.  So after some serious pondering and journalling, I decided to join the human race again. However, I didn’t recognize that woman staring back at me in the mirror and when I tried to make a couple of short videos – oy vey….I won’t say it was traumatizing, but it sure as heck wasn’t wonderful.

My face and hair had changed so much I didn’t recognize myself. But keeping true to my self commitment to get back in the saddle, I started experimenting.  After all I could do some amazing things with makeup and hairstyling, so I just needed to apply the same principles to my own mug – right?  Well, I have to tell you, I’m the toughest test I’ve had to work on in a long time. This kisser really needed some attention from skill, product, tools and testing new application techniques. And those that know me, know I will try just about anything and every way possible before moving onto the next “possibility”.

In fact, one time, I even played with a certain type of scotch tape and elastic bands to create my own form of a face lift better known as “Years Away” in certain Hollywood beauty circles.  And it worked pretty well actually but better with a wig which I wasn’t sporting at the time.

I remembered another trying time in my life when I was also going through the change from youth to middle age. And because I needed to put all my attention to what I was responsible to at that time I forgot about me and slowly slipped into that place of “everything else is more important than I am”. I’m sure many of you can identify.

Then suddenly I found myself back in the business world and had to make some fast and drastic changes. And I did. It took commitment, dedication, and practice, practice, practice. Then all of a sudden one day I found my new self, my new look, my new attitude. And I rolled with this version of myself for many years and a couple of decades.

Once again though, life has a way of throwing curve balls but sometimes they are actually divine intervention—just not recognizable at the time. At this point I had decided to embrace my gray hair.  But this time I knew it would take me about five years to finally find my groove and with lots of choices too, so I proceeded and was successful.

Now having overcome some new heavy duty challenges I mentioned earlier, this time it was with a definitely changed body and face and my platinum coloured hair, it was time to re-invent myself yet again. And that’s just what I’m doing now.

So I thought – wait – why not bring you gals along with me, instead of waiting till I get it all figured out.  Are you game?  If so I’d like to lead off with a Mini Series next and then jump into a “Back to Basics” livestream or video series in the Fall  The successful Masterclasses we’ve done on FB were well received and this would be our refresher.

And GREAT NEWS, I’ve discovered we can do this on Youtube using the “unlisted” option so it remains private with just the participants or anyone we may want to share the link with.

Bonus, YT won’t be taking it down like FB does now. There are still some things to figure out tech wise, but I’m feeling really good about this possible direction.

Let me know in the comments whatcha think so I can started with the planning.

That’s a wrap for this Episode. Thanks for joining me—where beauty, wellness, and wisdom meet in just the right measure.

  2. I’m glad you’re back and joining us again. Sorry it’s been such a struggle over the last five years. It’s amazing how difficult getting older can be.
I think the YouTube series sounds wonderful! I would love to join.

  3. Dear Sharon, I am thrilled and would be honored to continue to follow your journey and Mini Series and future Back to Basics on the YouTube platform. It’s the best for access for those of us with hearing challenges also. Do you realize how many women you have inspired to heal themselves and not give up, including yours truly? Your tenacity, dedication to family and things that matter most, and deep spiritual searching and transformation to be the best you can be along this journey called Life has truly been amazing and inspirational to so many. For that, I thank you. I would like nothing better to sit over a cup of tea and meet you in person someday. A dream of mine…

    1. How very kind of you Debra. I would love to have a cuppa with you as well. I’ve felt called to do this and your little message here just cements that I’m going in the right direction. Thank you and stay tuned.

  4. Sharon, so glad you are back with us. Facing some health issues also and just looking blah! I would like to join you.

  6. I’ve been waiting for this! I’ve started a healthy program that is definitely going to work for me. It’s on an app and has an AI coach. I’m stunned by the appropriate information and responses I get. Recipes, encouragement, information, exercises, etc. I have a long way to go, but I AM going. I can hardly wait to follow you again.

  7. Good afternoon Sharon,
So glad you are back in the saddle! I have missed you and dearly need your guidance as I enter my eighties. Looking forward to seeing you regularly again!
